Julie with Juju's Tutu's

Today I am introducing Julie from Juju's Tutu's. Though you all know her tutu's are a fave of mine this is an interview of how Juju's Tutu's all began, and let's us get to know Julie more.

What did you do with this/along with this?

Oringinally I set out to be a teacher and taught Special Education, specifically 5-8th graders with Severe/Profound Emotional Behavioral Disorders in a self-contained classroom setting. I loved what I did and worked at an amazing school with great staff, but it was so emotionally draining. My son Seth was a toddler and it was really hard to be away from him all day and then not feel like I had enough emotionally left in me to be the mom I wanted to be to him when I got home from work. It was hard for me to justify raising someone else's child all day long while I paid someone to raise mine. I decided to look for alternatives and found a great Network Marketing Compnay called Arbonne. I quickly replaced my teacher's salary by doing that and built a business with that company for 5 years. I still felt like my creative side wasn't being tapped into like I needed it to be and decided to designs for a clothing line. One design that I came up with I thougth would look great with a tutu, but I didn't know how to make them so I literally spent months trying to get it down just right. What cand I say? I'm a perfectionist! During the process my friends got lots of sub-par tutu's! I asked a girlfriend who owned a Children's Boutique and carried tutus to look at my designs to let me know if they were even close to the ones that she saw at market. She asked if she could start carrying them and Juju's Tutu's was born!

What inspires your designs?

Just about everything! Pictures, flowers, ribbon, nature, my daughter Amaya, movies, the way two colors of tulle look whtn I inadvertently put them together while cleaning up my workroom... sometimes it's hard to turn off the design process!

What are 3 words that describe your work? This is so hard! I actually had to ask my FB fans for help on this! Whimsical, Magical, Exquisite

What are 3 words that describe you? Perfectionist, Imaginative, Loving

Do you have a favorite piece from your shop? This seriously changes almost daily based upon what I've created. Right now I'm really loving "Puttin on the Ritz" Tutu.

What's your most productive time of day? When my kiddos are napping adn I can solely focus on working while listening to shows on Hulu in the background.

Where do you see your business in 5 years? My dream is to be able to get Juju's to a place where I am able to rent out a space for manufacturing, where everything is still handmade by a close group of my amazing and talented friends and myself. One section of the workshop will be closed off and be used for Free childcare so my friends who need a little bit of extra money coming into their household, yet can't afford to pay childcare costs can earn the money that they need. The front section will be used for retail and birthday parties. I also have some really exciting plans to branch Juju's Tutu's into other areas of the market too, but right now it's "top secret"!

What is one thing you can't live without? While working it's 4 things, coffee, Diet Dr. Pepper, Chocolate and Hulu!






















Anything else you would like us to know? I absolutely LOVE what I do! It's a lot of hard work to try to run a small start-up business and raise a family, but for me, it's totally worth it! I have a wonderful husband who jumps in to help where he can (he's actually glued "Minnie Mouse Dot's
on tutus and sewn waistbands!), a supportive extended family, amazing friends and awesome business contacts and partners. This supporst system inspires me, encourages me and holds me accountable. Without them, I wouldn't be here!
